The Special Education Process in North Dakota - Pathfinder Workshop Series
New Live Workshop Series from Pathfinder Services of ND - The Special Education Process in North Dakota

The Special Education Process in North Dakota is series of workshops developed by Pathfinder Services of ND. Whether you are a parent of children with learning difficulties, or a professional who provides services for these families and their children, these workshops are designed to help you understand how special education is implemented in the state of North Dakota. Pathfinder Services of ND is a statewide organization, so our workshops are available throughout North Dakota.

Our workshops are a great opportunity for parents, youth and young adults, and professionals to gain in-depth knowledge, get hands-on experience, and learn evidence-based strategies. Our presenters will help you understand a topic and practice what to do under real-world conditions. Our workshops are also a great opportunity to meet and network with families and professionals.

If you are interested in hosting on our workshops, or want to learn more about the workshop series, follow this link for more information:

Your Journey to Self-Determination Series

This accessible, online Series from CADRE provides relatively short introductions to key concepts and skills needed to support students in becoming self-determined and engaging in one's educational planning. Although the courses and lessons are self-directed, they are intended to compliment other activities, discussions, and practice opportunities necessary for students to develop self-determination skills. A Facilitator Guide with supplemental activities and resources has been developed to assist teachers, parents/guardians, and mentors in furthering student learning.

The Hope of Lessons Learned: Supporting the Inclusion of Students with the Most Significant Cognitive Disabilities Into General Education Classrooms

What do we know about the current participation in general education classes for students with the most significant cognitive disabilities? We know that these students are much more likely to be placed outside of general education than any IDEA category of students with disabilities. This article from Impact, a quarterly publication by the University of Minnesota's Institute of Community Integration, discusses lessons learned through working toward inclusivity within the complex system of education.

This issue of Impact is focused on the topic of inclusion and features many more great articles on the topic in addition to the one highlighted above.
