North Dakota Think College Institute will be held on Wednesday, March 31 at the Grand International Inn in Minot. This will be a full day event (9:00-4:00). Mary Mercer from NDCPD has reserved a block of sleeping rooms at the International Inn at state rates (701) 852-3161. She says since this award was truly a “mini-grant” we only have funding for a limited number of parents or students with intellectual or developmental disabilities who want to participate in the Institute. They can contact Mary at 858-3580 if they need support in order to participate.
Micah
Fialka-Feldman attends classes at Oakland University and recently won a court
case allowing him to live in the dorm. Micah is speaking at the Pathfinder Parent Involvement Conference in Minot on May 7th. Here's what he says about his first couple weeks living in the dorm . . .
I can do more living in housing on campus. I can go to the gym. I can take a cycling class every Friday. I am having an exciting time of living on campus. I don't have to wake up early and take a bus to school. I can watch cable TV. I can help more people out at the activities. I like all of my classes I have been taking at school this semester. I hope the other students that after I graduate can have the same opportunities and live in the dorm like I did. I have new friends this semester.
